Frankfurt Murals
Two Frankfurt-based collective housing corporations display a courageous approach to the design of their structures, making two residential buildings to widely visible landmarks depicting large-sized portraits of famous personalities. Both works by artist and colour planner Thomas Stolz were created as part of the conceptual series ‘Lending Streets a Face’.

The portrait of groundbreaking mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855) in the street carrying his name was created in 2015 commissioned by GWH Wohnungsgesellschaft mbH Hessen. The diagram was transferred to the facade by means of a stencil created at the artist’s workshop and applied there by brush and paint roller. The mural measures approximately 10 x 11.5 metres.
